Fisher seeks out logistically complex, urban projects and this West Elm fits the bill. The ground-up flagship for Williams Sonoma’s emerging brand presented many challenges to the design and construction team. Fisher’s pre-construction team was instrumental in the value engineering and budgeting process. The remediated brownfield site was situated on a narrow slice of Bay mud between a busy frontage road and a parking garage with no staging area. The ground-up structure is a single-story steel-frame building with mezzanine. It has a partial green roof, photovoltaics, drought-resistant landscaping, sustainable building materials other green elements. Although it was not certified, the store was built to LEED specifications.
