SFO Water Filling Stations

San Francisco

After the highly successful implementation of the Wayfinding Enhancement Program, SFO tapped Fisher to design and install propriety new water filling stations throughout the airport.

The sleek, minimalist design features up to six supply taps with touchless technology that intuitively recognizes the user’s container size, filling it with cold, ambient or hot water. All the signage and instructions comply with SFO’s new Wayfinding standards and principles.

The new water filling stations help SFO reach its goal of eliminating single-use plastic water bottles throughout the airport, removing it from its waste stream.

The programming and design of this iconic and innovative airport feature not only involved extensive architectural, structural, plumbing, electrical and mechanical design, it also required reconfiguring existing spaces while not disrupting the passenger experience.
