At the corner of 10th and Bryant Streets in the heart of San Francisco’s SOMA district, you’ll find the former 1927-era warehouse which once housed the legendary McGuire Furniture Company. Zoned for Production/Distribution/Repair (PDR), the pair of buildings have been updated to optimize the large floor plates that lend itself to 21st Century research and production laboratory for autonomous vehicles. Fisher’s scope included the installation of seismic structural systems, new vertical transportation, new MEPs, fire/life/safety, newly paved parking lot, restoration of the warehouse’s historic windows and new glazing. The design called for a reconfiguration of the building’s main entrance to include a handsome garden and courtyard. The new reception area features a dramatic new atrium with a collection of living pillars that descent 20 feet down to the basement level.
