FDI MAKES HISTORY AT GREENBUILD
WITH FROG ZERO
GC constructs innovative "School of the Future, Today" in just four days
BOSTON, Mass. (November 12, 2008)--Fisher Development, Inc., a national general contractor, broke new ground today in the green building movement when it removed the barricade to reveal a sophisticated and sleek Project FROG building at the entrance to the Boston Convention Center.
The 1,500 square foot glass and steel structure complete with living roof and eco-friendly mechanical systems, greeted an estimated 25,000 attendees as they converged on the Greenbuild Conference and Trade Show, taking place here November 18-20.
The demonstration project is titled "The School of the Future, Today," is the centerpiece and a certain highlight of what has become the world's most popular green building event. This project was done in conjunction with Project FROG and BD+C Magazine.
"The green building movement took a giant leap into the future today when Project Frog and Fisher Development proved it possible to construct a LEED Silver* building in just four days," said Ken Pickart, CEO of Fisher Development. "FDI is so proud to be associated with this dynamic and truly innovative project."
The FROG Zero demonstration unit, so named because of its break-through energy neutral design, was assembled on site in a mere four days. The project team's intensive planning and re-assembly of the structure enabled the team to adhere to the rules and regulations of the City of Boston and the Convention Center.
"We're on the ground floor of a new phenomenon that will sweep the design and construction industry," said Alex Fisher of Fisher Development. "This building takes the most desirable elements of green building and puts them into an attractive, affordable and quick to deploy application. This is what the industry has been waiting for."
"As a national general contractor with expertise in coordinating and building these projects, FDI is poised to help schools and businesses get up and running in a fraction of the time at an affordable price," Fisher continued.
