FDI is Going, Going... Green!

January 25, 2008 (SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.)--- Fisher Development announced today that it is rapidly increasing its ranks of LEED accredited professionals on staff. The national general contractor now has eight project managers and estimators who have passed the exam administered by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

“There has been a sea change in the design and construction community when it comes to our shared responsibility in fighting climate change. FDI can be counted among those leading the charge,” said Ken Pickart, FDI’s Chief Executive Officer. “About 20 percent of our project management and estimating staff is LEED accredited and we will be steadily increasing that number as the demand for green building grows.”

FDI recently broke ground on Williams Sonoma Inc.’s first green project, a West Elm flagship store at Bay Street Station in Emeryville, CA. The client, along with the design and construction team, is seeking a Gold rating on this LEED for Retail Pilot Program.

“We’re very excited about the opportunities for FDI to make a difference when it comes to reducing our carbon footprint,” said Dave Van Wicklin, the West Elm Project Manager. “When conscientious clients like Williams Sonoma come to us with a significant project, we stand ready to turn those blueprints into reality.”
