Senior Estimator, Pre-Construction

ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Senior Pre-Construction Estimator is responsible for management, consulting and estimating services based on his or her knowledge of construction practices.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Manage and perform preconstruction services for clients
- Communicate with clients and analyze their requirements
- Build and maintain client relationships
- Be part of presentations for both project delivery and business development purposes
- Perform cost and construction management services
- Review construction project plans, requirements, drawings and specifications
- Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates through all stages of design using Timberline and other FDI approved software
- Perform plan checks and determine project constructability
- Coordinate blueprint/drawing distribution to vendors and obtain bids
- Qualifying subcontract proposals
- Identify and input new and revised data into estimating database
- Responsible for reconciling subcontractor pricing information with historical data
- Train Estimators on client specific requirements and FDI construction practices
- Participate in recruitment of new employees
- Take part in special studies and research as assigned by the Estimating Director and Executives
- Accountability for communication, quality control and profitability of consulting services projects
MINIMUM DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:
- 10 or more years estimating, project engineering or project management experience on a variety of projects including retail tenant improvement and core and shell construction
- Ability to prepare preconstruction services proposals
- Ability to prepare CPM schedules with scheduling software, preferably MS Project
- Bachelors degree or higher in a construction related discipline is desirable
- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills both oral and written
- Must possess the ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business correspondence
- Ability to strategize, plan and problem solve
- Ability to write comprehensive business correspondence such as reports, letters and emails
- Ability to interpret all levels of drawings from the conceptual through the construction phase of design, narratives, outlines and specifications
- Ability to perform constructability reviews
- Attention to detail and quality
- Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft applications including skills in Microsoft Excel, Project, Word and Outlook
- Proficiency with Timberline estimating software strongly preferred
- An enthusiastic attitude towards the use of technology to perform your duties efficiently
- This position will require the employee to visit jobsites. The individual must be able to navigate a jobsite that is under construction
